When this year 2020 began, I had so many plans and so many things in mind that I just wanted to do for God. I enrolled to take online Christian mentoring and coaching classes and thought that I should seriously give my time to that. I also started Taught to be Fearless, refreshed its Instagram page, and finally created its website.
Life then looked great as I planned to take this year to focus on where I needed to be and go in God. I felt it to be a year of purpose. Then I thought, what if I am planning to do all these things and they were not what God desired me to do? They look good, they sound good, but what if God had other plans than the plans that I had for myself.
So, I took a step back. I put all of my plans down and prayed to God. I said, “Lord, I have all these plans but I do not want to do anything if you are not in it, especially if I’m doing it in Your name.”
I prayed and waited for His answer. Days passed and I kept on praying but my spirit felt something it did not feel before. I started to feel sure that where I wanted to go in 2020 was not exactly what God had planned. I learned to trust His plan before mine. And instead of studying for something I thought was right and what I had to do for God, I felt convicted that that very thing was not what God wanted me to do at all.
Covid19 hit, we were all in confinement. I know that God was speaking and I just needed to get to where He was in that season. All I could receive from Him was prepare, study. A time of rest disguised in confinement was actually a time of pruning for me. And for the first time, I wrote. I started to write my book that is now published today.
We plan and dream but as the word of God says “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9. And another powerful verse says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6.
The keyword in the latter verse is TRUST. Trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, because our understanding is limited, we need God’s guidance in all things. And before taking another move, before executing a plan, it is crucial to submit to Him so that we would be accomplishing His will for our lives.
