When I thought about the Holy Spirit, I would think of a being who is present. I never really understood His meaning in my life. I knew that He is the Spirit and hence the presence of God here on Earth. I knew that because I am a Christian, He lives inside of me.
When I needed to be comforted, I remembered that He is called the comforter so I would rely on His peace. But, there is so much more to the Holy Spirit that I am only now figuring out.
Everything in its time, I guess. God is bringing me to a place where I am learning that His Holy Spirit is someone I can truly and entirely rely on in every single area of life. That when I think that I am alone and abandoned, He is there. When I feel weak and just want to give up, the strength that is beyond my will comes directly from Him.
Now here I am, on a journey of getting to know a friend like no other. I had to share this with you because so many of us, especially saved and baptized, do not give the Holy Spirit the attention He deserves. We know that He’s there, but we do not understand that He is essential for us living a holy life on this earth.
He is indispensable for every area God is calling us to. He is the one who shapes us, guides us, rebukes us, corrects us, encourages us, loves us, and yes, comforts us. We live our daily lives on our own hoping to overcome temptations, and striving to obtain or keep up a godly character, but it is impossible without Him.
He is given to us by God, after Jesus left Earth, to serve as a guide on our journey back to God. In this journey that we call life, He is the one who helps us become all that God has created us to be. He knows God’s thoughts, His will, His heart and He is within us to pass on God’s intent for us.
So, if you’re a Christian, you are saved and baptized, see the Holy Spirit for who He really is. Your guide in all truth. And allow yourself, as I am, to live life with Him, every single day.
